Mumbai, India – August 5, 2024: The International Institute of Gemology (IIG) marked a significant milestone with a heartfelt 30th convocation Ceremony 2023-24 held at the prestigious Sahara Star on the 3rd August, 2024. This memorable celebration honored the achievements of 150 students. This event was not just a ceremony but a proof of IIG’s dedication to promoting global talent in gemology.

The convocation was a truly global affair, with students traveling from Kenya, Africa, Nairobi, UAE, and Sri Lanka to attend in person. Many others joined virtually via Zoom, showcasing the international reach and inclusive spirit of IIG. This diverse gathering highlighted the institute’s role as a global leader in gemology education.

Originally, the event was to be graced by Mr. Sachin Jain, Regional CEO of the World Gold Council. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Mr. Jain could not attend. Stepping in at short notice, Mr. Ajit Mauskar, Director of Market Infrastructure India, graciously took on the role of chief guest. IIG extends heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Mauskar for his valuable presence and insights, which enriched the experience for all attendees.

Mr. Ajit Mauskar praised Rahul Desai’s dedication, saying, “Rahul’s commendable efforts to enhance the gemology industry are truly inspiring. His vision and commitment to providing flexible and customized education make IIG stand out. Witnessing the enthusiasm and dreams of these graduates has been an honor, and it speaks volumes about the impact IIG has under Rahul’s leadership. Rahul is a fine mentor and industry coach, and I’m pleasantly surprised by the high turnout of students at this event.”

Rahul Desai, CEO and Managing Director of IIG, delivered a heartfelt speech that resonated deeply with the students. He emphasized, “Education is not a one-size-fits-all journey, and we understand that each one has unique requirements and dreams. That’s why we offer flexible learning schedules, modes, formats, specialized programs, and tailored content, ensuring that everyone across the globe can learn, grow, and truly excel in their own unique way.” His words highlighted IIG’s dedication to personalized and adaptive education, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.

Rahul Desai also shared exciting news about the launch of his new podcast, “Loupe Insight – Delving with Rahul Desai.” Crafted for busy professionals, the podcast offers concise and insightful episodes that can be consumed in just 10 minutes, making learning accessible on the go.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Rahul Desai shared, “Seeing our students from across the world come together, both in person and virtually, fills me with immense pride and joy. Our goal at IIG has always been to empower each student with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the gemology industry, and today’s celebration is evidence of that mission.”

A graduating student shared their heartfelt experience, stating, “Graduating from IIG has been a life-changing journey. The personalized education and support I received here have equipped me with all the tools and confidence I need to start my own business. IIG has not only taught me gemology but also how to excel in the industry.”
Ms. Gunjan Sapra, COO & HOD, Design Department spoke about IIG’s unique and varied offerings, emphasizing the institute’s mission to provide education in all formats. IIG’s courses are renowned for their flexibility and customization, catering to the specific needs of each student. Ms Sapra also highlighted how IIG has seamlessly transformed from traditional learning to incorporating online and hybrid formats, making education more accessible globally, especially for jewelry design and graduate programs.

The felicitation was conducted for mainly three segments; Gemology, Diamond, and Jewellery Designing and merchandising for the Graduates and Master’s Programs, followed by the distribution of awards and certificates, with trophies sponsored by Svar Gems. There was also special recognition for the “IIG Student of the Year Awards 2023-24”. Svar Media was the official media partner for the event.

In addition to celebrating student accomplishments, the event saw the launch of several key initiatives, including the unveiling of the new IIG website, and collaboration with Gem-A and IIG’s expansions, which includes a dedicated institute at MIDC for Gold Assaying and Silver Assaying programs.

The convocation was more than just a ceremony; it was a celebration of dedication, hard work, and global unity in the field of gemology.
