SRDC, the institute dedicated to pioneering education and grooming of talent for the gem and jewellery industry completed its 3rd Batch of Graduates for the year 2017. To celebrate this proud moment and give certificates to the students, SRDC organized an event on 4th October. The Chief Guests at the event were all faculty members- Department Heads of the Institute. The mood was one of ambition, pride and also of learning values that make an SRDC student a professional and change-maker for the industry. After a brief recount of the Institute’s work by SRDC counsellor Kejal.
SRDC Director Rahul Desai spoke on the importance of team spirit and the 10-point mantra for success including:
HONESTY in Work, ETHICS and it’s importance in Business, RESPECT to Nation-Parents- Family, CSR, Earning TRUST & RESPECT, Having ENTHUSIASM & PASSION for the work, PRIDE of knowledge, CREATING rather than imitating, HARD WORK, First Learn and than remove “L” – Importance of Reading and Learning everyday.
What is unique at SRDC is that learning actually is fun. This is why practical training is emphasized at the Institute. Keeping the mood alive at the event were games like Diamond-Gemology-Jewellery Designing-Juniors program corner game, musical chair games etc. Winners were then felicitated for the following courses – Gemology Graduate, Diamond Graduate, Masters in Diamonds, Masters in Gemology, Advanced Diamond Grading, Polished Diamond Grading, Rough Diamond Assortment, Jewellery Designing Manual, Jewellery Designing CAD.
At the event students voluntarily came forth to make fond memories of the occasion with videos. There was also a lucky draw with 5 winners announced. Also, some of the certificates awarded for Chinese Mandarin Language program for Indo Sino Bridge (ISB) Students.
A very special student at SRDC who was from LONDON and based in Somalia, Mr Ali Amin Sid Ahmed, joined the Institute and is graduating for Rough Diamond Assortment. He expressed his views that “SRDC is the only Institute in Mumbai where one can learn about Rough diamonds with 100 percent practical teaching, unlike other international institutes where such practical exposure is much less. He also said, “What SRDC has in Mumbai is the Best education for the gem and jewellery sector and that one should not be driven by name but by the value of education one receives.” Many SRDC students who have recently joined organizations also shared the similar opinion.
The Institute has always maintained in being aggressive yet not in a rush groom talent. This is why practical training is a key element of its curriculum. It has recently begun new programs including JEWELLERY DESIGNING CAD and has begun industry visits for practical experiences for its students.
The event was memorable with group photos, that will add to the memory of SRDC’s milestones in grooming true industry talent. It is the start of new hope for the industry.
