This course is highly practical and is usually concluded by the delivery credentials for Polished Diamond Grading.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

Introduction to diamond.
Learn to grade diamonds with the aid of 10x loupe as per market practice.
Formation of diamond - Constants and characteristics - sources of diamonds.
Diamonds are graded by what is commonly known as the 4 C's - CLARITY, CUT, COLOR and CARAT.
CLARITY - Inclusions, blemishes, factors affecting clarity grading.
CUT - Enhanced knowledge about the Idle-cut diamond, proportions, polish & symmetry factors.
COLOR - Color grading & shading.
CARAT - Size divisions, weight estimation, use of gauge and sieve.
Single cut - Double cut diamond and identiﬁcation of fancy cut diamonds.
Complete assorting according to polishing grades, selection - rejection & assortment procedure and ﬁnal with accuracy.
Uses of diamonds.
Fluorescence in diamonds.
Knowledge of sieves & gauges.
Identiﬁcation of diamonds from its simulants like AD, CZ, moissanite, synthetic diamonds etc.

What education qualification is required for the diamond course?

These all are skilled oriented courses which doesn’t require any particular qualification or degree as such. However, we would recommend 10+ Grade students to be eligible for the courses.

Does clarity really matter in a diamond?

In general, clarity starts to matter a lot when it is too low. There is not much difference to the naked eye between a diamond graded FL or IF and one in the VS1-VS2 clarity range. However, diamonds with clarity graded below SI1/SI2 are very likely to have visible flaws.

What is the oldest cut of diamond?

Rose Cut. The rose cut features anywhere from three to 24 facets. It's one of the oldest diamond cuts, with a history dating back to the 1500s. This diamond cut is known as the rose cut because its shape resembles that of a rose bud's bloom.

How many years it take to form a Diamond?

Most natural diamonds have ages between 1 billion and 3.5 billion years.
