Walking Through the Market

Walking Through the Market

How does it all happen? What is the best practice? … SRDC organized an industry visit for its students to Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. and Bharat Diamond Bourse to better understand the market and its functions beyond the classroom knowledge of a diamond as a product. The visits were held on 17th March, 2018.

Visiting HARI KRISHNA EXPORTS PVT. LTD. students understood that organizational successful lay in a healthy employee culture and business excellence. After a warm greeting with the HK staff, students joined in the daily morning prayer service at 10:10am and learnt about the company tradition of celebrating festivals with employees to create stronger bonds. There was a walk-through to various diamond departments, viewing operational processes, recruitment process and daily activities. Mr. Ghanshyam bhai Dholakia, Founder, Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. guided students with his valuable experience. We thank him for his support and encouragement.

Great moments of learning and interactions!

Walking Through the MarketThe day continued with a visit to BHARAT DIAMOND BOURSE (BDB). Students witnessed not only the magnificence of this landmark structure but also the reality of how the entire market channel in the diamond industry functions. From basics like various entry gates, different towers, to the Customs House, Safe Deposit Vaults, Diamond Trading Hall, Mumbai Diamond Merchant Association Hall, Trading Cabins and DTC Cabins, students were taken through the entire journey. They were acquainted with different stages of the trade and market hierarchy, seeing the cabin people, brokers, diamantaires and  export houses.

At SRDC, we apply a practical and a complete approach to training. It’s not just about feeling confident with the subject but also as a part of the industry.
