An Industrial Visit to Shree Ram Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd., Surat was organized by the International Institute of Gemology on 8th February 2020 for diamond & gemstone students. The accompanying Faculty Coordinators were Mr. Rahul Desai, Mrs.Renu Punjani and Mr. Jayantibhai Patel.
The students visited SRK Empire on 8th February 2020, which is the most technologically advanced diamond manufacturer in the world and India’s Premier Diamantaire. In the first lap, the students accompanied by their faculty members were taken on a guided tour of the Factory. Students were informed about the company- its history and products. They learned practical knowledge of diamond manufacturing – from rough to polished & hands-on understanding of the industrial handling and some of the automated process.
SRK hospitality team offered nice lunch to all IIG students and faculty members, it was an amazing experience to watch more than 3500 employees as well as executives having lunch provided by the company at the huge dining hall.
After lunch, we all gathered at SRK’s nice conference hall, Ms. Vidhi Jain Head – SRK knowledge Foundation, which introduced us to SRK group’s various CSR activities. After that, it was the best part of the industrial visit to come, our meet with Shri Govindkaka. We all were excited and delighted to meet Shri. Govindbhai Dholakia, Founder SRK. He spends almost an hour with students addressing their curious questions and guided them for future market opportunities. He was so humble to interact with students and motivate them too. He is really the living legend of our industry.
The visit was followed by an excursion to the SRKID – SRK Institute of Diamonds at the same premises. Mr. Devendra Shah – Centre Head took all students for the quick walkthrough at the institute different departments, After the visit to SRK Empire IIG Team headed towards Local Diamond Market.
To sum up, the trip was a great learning experience wherein the students were mesmerized by Shri Govindkaka‘s presence, his ever motivating speech, and his life principles. Also, it was a fruitful experience to visit the SRK Empire, the infrastructure, the types of machinery and thousands of dedicated employees, actually the whole SRK family.
