IIG’s Rakhee Biswas Deb – The winner of the 1st GOLDEN GIRLS AWARDS 2023 launched by IBJA.

Her Passion, Her Journey.

Precious Two…

“FOLLOW YOUR HEART, NEVER GIVE UP AND YOU CAN DO ANYTHING “—

The first step of recognizing my fascination towards creation, designing and innovation started at a very early age when I watched the women in my family adorn beautiful jewels. But destiny had it otherwise, and I landed up being a legal professional.

However, with every passing year, my love for designing has burgeoned. Eventually during the pandemic and lockdown, while browsing through the internet, I came across a Jewellery Designing Course at the International Institute of Gemology, Mumbai, being absolutely unaware of the most fulfilling and eventful journey of my life that this Institute would bring with it. It has provided me with the right environment and avenues to learn, grow and sharpen my skills and designing techniques. As time progressed in the institute, I was exposed to diverse experiences and had the opportunity to participate in interactive learning sessions with teachers, and fellow students as well as some of the stalwarts of the Gem and Jewellery industry, entrepreneurs and business leaders, learn from their experiences and enrich my entrepreneurial mind-set.

During my association with IIG, I had my share of rewards and accolades, which have further strengthened my confidence and helped me to aspire for more. My hard work and perseverance were further rewarded with the STUDENT OF THE YEAR AWARD, 2021 by IIG, Mumbai upon completion of my Diploma in Jewellery Designing.

I was further assured of my abilities when I was awarded by the Designers of India, Forum 2022, for BEST INNOVATION IN FINISHED PRODUCT JEWELLERY DESIGN CATEGORY. My happiness knew no bounds as my work got recognition on the National Platform.

Finally, another feather was added to my cap, when I was selected to receive the prestigious, “THE GOLDEN GIRLS AWARD”, 2023 by India Bullion & Jewellers Association Ltd. (IBJA), with the sole purpose of motivating a highly talented pool of women workforce in Gems & Jewellery Industry. I was pleasantly surprised and honored to be considered worthy of such coveted recognition during my short span in this Industry.

These experiences have immensely added to my self-esteem and motivated me to continue to do better. Today, as I reflect on my journey, I feel where I am now is because of many wonderful souls who strongly believed in me and my abilities. These achievements of mine are dedicated to all those from my family and friends who loved and supported me, my teachers and mentors at IIG, who have always encouraged and empowered me to navigate my next. To me, IIG is like a family where fun and learning never stop.

As I embark on the next phase of my journey, I plan to launch my Jewellery Brand, make meaningful designs for the modern, confident and unique women of today and translate my inspiration into a timeless Jewellery masterpiece that could forever capture a significant moment in the woman who adorns it.

Two precious years have transformed me to be a different person by far than I ever dreamed myself to be. My designing and creativity transcend limitations and I find myself in a new, great and wonderful world that I cherish fondly.
