Mandarin Language Elective conducted by ISB for undergraduate level students of ISME

Indo Sino Bridge – (ISB) conducted Mandarin Elective Language program between Aug. – Sept. 2017 at Indian School of Management and Entrepreneurship – (ISME).

 

ISME is a hub of opportunities for students to connect & network on a global level.

Situated in the heart of Mumbai city, within the dynamic Lower Parel Innovation District (LPID), ISME actuates an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem. The campus is a fulcrum for ideas, collaboration and individuals who have the ambition to create value for business and society. It’s an amalgamation of campus fun life and corporate experiences, providing the students stimulating exposure to creative thinking and analytical mindsets. It is a modern, sprawling campus, with extensive exposure to multiple highly reputed schools, leading to inter-disciplinary learning and more inspiration.

ISB is the sister concern for SRDC | TheGateway for Gem & Jewellery Industry, Estd. since 1965.

ISB is well-known and established Chinese language teaching institute situated at Opera house – South Mumbai and also having the branch at Andheri to cater the suburb language enthusiasts. ISB is the sister concern for SRDC | TheGateway for Gem & Jewellery Industry, Estd. since 1965.

Mandarin elective started from 9th August and the concluding lecture was held on 23rd September 2017, Saturday. ISME student gave positive response for the elective, instead of one batch we have to organise two batches of 25 students each. The elective was open to the students at the undergraduate level across the three schools of ISME.

ISB leads to equipping the students with a varied skill set and technical know-how of the Mandarin language. We teach them about following topics in brief:

Pronunciations, Tones and Numbers.
Date, Time and Money.
Greetings and Self Introduction.
Question Words, Counters and Prepositions.
Business and Management Vocabulary used for Conversations.
Basic Vocabulary used during a person’s visit to China.
Learning about business culture and conversation.

Mr Nishith Shah teaching Chinese Business Culture and etiquette to students.

The concluding lecture by our mentor Mr Nishith Hanming. He taught them about Business culture and Basic conversation techniques to the students. At the end of the electives, a small workshop on Chinese Calligraphy and painting was held by ISB. Students designed and wrote/paint Chinese characters like Friendship – Mother – Father – Love – Peace etc. It was knowledge with fun activity seminar indeed. Some of the art students really wrote beautiful characters and showcase in the workshop.

End of the session, Mr Rahul Desai – Director Indo Sino Bridge gave a speech thanking the ISME management and Students for organising and learning the Mandarin language from ISB as an elective study together with their regular studies. Finally, we took a group photo together with ISME Students and management to capture the Mandarin Elective memories with us. Hope this kind of short but systematic study can increase the liking for foreign languages in the students, and language lovers and students can pursue some advanced level of Language learning in future.
