“We at SRDC India are thrilled to be working upon a new initiative which ultimately builds a highly talented pool of professionals for the gem and jewellery industry. Recently, SRDC India joined hands with HRD Antwerp, to offer a ‘Diamond Practical Workshop’ to those keen on increasing their knowledge about diamonds and grading skills. This is probably one of the very rare occasions in the gem and jewellery industry wherein two highly reputed educational institutes are collaborating together.
The workshop is planned as a 5-day course at the Mumbai campus of HRD Antwerp India, during which students will gain an opportunity to work with polished diamonds of varying qualities and sizes, receive personal coaching and a constant feedback from faculty. The faculty from both HRD Antwerp and SRDC India would be training the students.
The students will grade and identify natural diamonds with HRD’s high-end equipment, learn about quality grading factors, characteristics and properties of simulants and tests to identify them, colour treatments and practice with more than 100 diamonds. The lectures will be given in both Hindi and English language ensuring there is no barrier for a keen learner.
In order to provide focused coaching, the workshop is limited to 12 students. There is a formal practical examination at the end of the course and after completion the student is given a joint certificate on behalf of SRDC India and HRD Antwerp.
The first workshop will be held in Mumbai between February 20-24, 2018. SRDC India is continuously exploring new ways to bring to learners the kind of knowledge that will help transform and to bring talent to the fore in the industry.
